Still on tour towards Salar de Uyuni
Another beautiful lagoon, this time with a flamingo population that reminded me of Manyara National Park in Tanzania, although this was at a much higher altitude!
The place where we spent our first night on this tour - definitely one of the most basic accommodation of all my trip!

And on we went crossing what I called the "Salvatore Dalí landscape". The features and colours were so surreal, it was like driving through a never ending Dalí painting...
Almost too classic to be true but we seriously had an engine breakdown in the middle of nowhere. While at first all guys wanted to help repair, they soon realised that standing by the side of the road was equally efficient...
Although the tracks showed that we were not the first to discover this place, when we arrived here on this day, we were ahead of everyone else.
What can look deceivingly small on one photo gets put into perspective when I stand next to it! Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with the "Stone Tree"
At this spot, I actually felt like Charles Darwin must have when he travelled and discovered new plants and animal species almost everyhwere he went.

Look at this funny thing: At first glance, it looks like a rabbit but it has the tail and posture of a squirrel! Till today, I have no idea what this animal is called but it was super cute and loved the carrots offered by a fellow traveller!

Having said this, after a while the other tours of the day arrived and we hurried to take off to be on our own again...
